A 62-year-old bodybuilder from Marvdasht, Fars Province was seen flexing his muscles in the local gym on Friday, as he discussed plans to compete in the sport on an international level.

Having practiced bodybuilding for 42 years, Mahmoud Zare could be seen building his physique on various weights machines, sporting an impressive set of muscles.

Zare explained that he holds a record-breaking 54 national gold medals, and stated that he plans to pursue world championships and partake in competitions in other cities.

"I gave up a lot of fun and the rights of my wife and children to get here," said Zare, claiming that his journey to the top was entirely self-funded.

In 2018, Zare won a bronze medal at the world-renowned Arnold Classic competition.
