Thousands of COVID sceptics from around Germany gathered in Leipzig to protest against COVID measures and vaccination policies, which ended up with scuffles and detentions.

As the number of protesters exceeded the allowed number of 1000 participants, people tried to march around Leipzig downtown but were stopped by police who used pepper spray and batons.

Several people are reported injured, including police officers. 24 people were arrested. with right-wing extremists among them.

The demo drew a left-wing counter-protest.

In the face of rising infections, the government of the German state of Saxony announced that it will tighten restrictions as of Monday, November 8, allowing only those vaccinated or recovered from COVID-19 to enter restaurants or big events among others.
