On a roll - Chinese skating waiters fly to serve customers at Yazhou restaurant
Waiters showed off their impressive speedy skating skills while delivering food in a Chinese restaurant in the central Chinese city of Yuzhou.
The skilled attendants could be seen on Monday whizzing dishes to the impressed customers and back to the kitchen.
"Serving customers while skating is challenging for me, because you need arm strength, balance and skills. In the beginning I have fallen down, [but] gradually, I get used to it," one waiter explained.
The staff need to be trained in skating with plates for months before they can be ready to serve customers.
The skating service came from a demand for higher efficiency, but has now developed into a unique and original restaurant service that attracts customers.
"I have been to this restaurant several times. I think the environment is good. The service of skating is good. The dishes are good as well. I like this place," a woman said.
According to the owner of the restaurant, Wang Hongxin, some waiters can allegedly reach 15 metres (29 feet) per second (54km/h).
"We have the strict mechanism on monitoring the safety for the staff. At the moment, there has been zero accidents in 10 years," Hongxin stated.
