USA: Tear gas flies at protest over Daniel Prude killing in Rochester

Police used tear gas as protests over the killing of Daniel Prude continued in Rochester on Saturday.

Protesters could be seen coughing and fleeing as they tried to protect themselves with umbrellas, as police ordered them to vacate the area or face arrest.

Volunteer medics could also be seen attending to an injured mand as they urged press not to film them.

A girl was seen being treated for inhalation with teardrops, as another injured man lied on the floor assisted by medical staff who got him on his feet again, urging cameras not to film the incident and leave space for the man to walk.

Body camera footage of Prude's death sparked protests when it was came to wider attention on Wednesday. The video showed police covering Prude's head with a "spit hood" and holding him on the ground before he stopped breathing. Prude was having a mental health episode on March 23 when his brother Joe called the Rochester Police Department for help. The 41-year-old died on March 30 after he was taken off life support.
