Argentina: Macri vents fury over 'insane' Copa Libertadores violence
Argentine President Mauricio Macri rued this weekend's violence in Buenos Aires which saw the Copa Libertadores final between River Plate and Boca Juniors called off twice in two days, as he spoke from La Casa Rosada on Monday.
"I see it as sad and frustrating," Macri said. "It is unacceptable. Under no conditions is it acceptable."
"The entire area had to be militarised, the whole city did. It's insane. It just isn't reasonable or justifiable, why should it be different to a fantastic sporting event like the Youth Olympics, which more than a million Argentines visited? It has to be the same," he continued.
The match was delayed twice after Boca's bus was attacked by River supporters on Saturday, before being eventually suspended, and was due to take place on Sunday at 17:00 local time [20:00 GMT], before it was announced that it will be delayed once more.
