State of Palestine: Thousands attend funerals of Palestinians killed in Israeli raid
Thousands flooded the streets of the town of Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip on Monday, for the funerals of seven Palestinians killed in an shootout during an Israeli raid in the town the day before.
A deputy commander of Hamas' military wing Nur Barakeh, along with Muhammad al-Qara, were reportedly shot and killed during an operation carried out by an Israel military specialist unit in Gaza.
Mourners carried the bodies from the European hospital to Barakeh's house, heading then to a mosque for prayers before ending at a cemetery.
Israeli forces reportedly carried out an airstrike on the site of the raid shortly after the shootout, hitting the area with as many as 40 missiles.
During the Israeli operation, one Israeli officer was also killed and another was injured.
