France: Pensioners march to condemn Macron’s pension reforms in Paris
Hundreds of French pensioners took to the streets of Paris on Thursday, to defend their purchasing power amid speculations of pension reforms.
Protesters marched to the Place de la Republique as they carried banners and flags.
French President Emmanuel "Macron says €1,200 retirement salary is a privileged retirement salary? But do you know the price of rent? How can you eat with a €1,200 retirement salary?" stated Catherine, a retired teacher.
"It’s a joke," she added.
France unveiled its major pension reforms to take effect in the first quarter of 2019 last week; while the retirement age remains unchanged at 62, concerns have risen over the disproportionate raise of pensions.
