
Belgium: EuroParl would support 3-year Brexit transition - EU's Tajani
The President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani reaffirmed that the European Parliament would be "in favour" of having a three-year Brexit transition period, during a press conference in Brussels on Thursday.
Tajani said that "concerning the transition period, I reaffirmed that the position of the [European] Parliament, in case there are talks of a third year [of transition], is in favour of this because the initial proposal of the European Parliament looks at a three year transition period."
Currently the the post-Brexit transition period is set at 21 months. UK Prime Minister Theresa May affirmed on Thursday that she didn't expect any further time would be needed.
