Germany: 'Our relations with EU are not at their best' - Lavrov
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russian-EU relations are ‘not at their best’, while speaking at a press conference alongside his German counterpart Heiko Maas in Berlin on Friday.
Lavrov also added that Russia is concerned about ‘NATO’s course to escalate tensions and build up military infrastructure near Russia’s borders.’
Both foreign ministers agreed that there are no alternatives to the Minsk Protocol which is aimed at facilitating the peace process in Ukraine.
“I would like to give a strong warning to those who stir up conflict scenarios. It will be a disaster for the Ukrainian people, because it can really undermine the statehood of Ukraine. You can’t fight with your own citizens,” Lavrov added.
During his visit to Berlin, the Russian diplomat also took part in the closing ceremony of the Russo-German cross-cultural year.
