
Italy: Police prevent drivers from recovering vehicles still on Genoa bridge
A police officer was seen corralling people back off of the remains of the Morandi Bridge in Genoa on Wednesday.
Local police reported on twitter that drivers who had abandoned their cars on the bridge as it collapsed had returned, and were attempting recover their vehicles on their own but the police prevented them from doing so for safety concerns.
They also stated that they would later assist them in recovering their vehicles to ensure safety.
The major section of Italy’s A10 highway collapsed in the northwest Italian city of Genoa earlier on Tuesday at around 11:30 (09:30 GMT), killing at least 35 people. The reason for the incident is still being investigated.
