
Russia: 'Bonjour!' – Putin meets Macron ahead of WC final
Russian President Vladimir Putin and French President Emmanuel Macron sat down for bilateral talks, ahead of the Russian World Cup final between France and Croatia in Moscow on Sunday.
"Bonjour" said Putin to Macron, giving him a 'French' welcome before giving a bouquet of flowers the French president’s wife, Brigitte Macron.
The Russian President congratulated his French counterpart on his team reaching the World Cup final and Bastille Day celebrated in France on Saturday.
Macron congratulated Putin on Russia’s "beautiful performance" in the World Cup and added that the team has “honoured the host-country, fooled many forecasts and played with a lot of courage."
The World Cup, which has been held in 11 Russian cities since June 14, will come to a conclusion on Sunday with the final between France and Croatia at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium.
