Belarus: Heavy weapons yet to be withdrawn from Donbass contact line – OSCE envoy
The implementation of agreements to withdraw heavy weapon systems in Donbass has not been adhered to in accordance with the Minsk agreements, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office in Ukraine Martin Sajdik reported from Minsk, Wednesday.
Sajdik stated that "a tense situation remains along the contact line, numerous violations of agreements are being reported, including the ceasefire regime and the withdrawal of heavy weapons. Most civilian and military casualties are the result of shelling with heavy weapons."
"These weapons should not be there, they should have been withdrawn in accordance with the Minsk agreements,” he added.
Sajdik concluded that, "Therefore, the effectiveness of the [actions] of the parties in implementing the agreement on the withdrawal of heavy weapons, unfortunately, leaves much to be desired in all respects."
