Germany: Hundreds of Kurds protest against 'Tyrant Erdogan' in Dusseldorf
Hundreds of Kurdish activists marched through the streets of Dusseldorf, Saturday, to protest against Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and to bring attention to the treatment of Kurds in Turkey.
The protesters held banners such as "Erdogan is a tyrant" while others carried signs supporting the Kurdish nationalistic leader and founder of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) Abdullah Oecalan, as they made their way from Friedrich-Ebert-Strasse to Johannes-Rau-Platz.
Turkey is currently carrying out a major military operation against PKK militants in the country's south-east. The attacks began in July 2015, after a peace process, carried out over the duration of more than two years, aimed at resolving the long-running conflict.
