Villagers and a pilot narrowly avoided death on Wednesday when a Sukhoi Su-25 plane crashed in the remote rural area of Chernigovka in Russia's Far East. The pilot executed a spectacular escape after losing control of the plane and just about managed to avoid nearby homes in the village before ejecting safely.
There were no casualties despite the aircraft being engulfed in flames as fortunately the pilot was only participating in a training mission and the plane was not carrying any weaponry.
The Russian Defence Ministry has announced that a ministerial commission will be sent to the remote region to conduct an investigation into the incident.
