Austrian police boosted security measures ahead of New Year's Eve celebrations in Vienna, Thursday.
Over 500 officers have reportedly been deployed to ensure security and prevent possible attacks in the capital. Various European intelligence services sent out warnings of possible attacks to authorities in several European capitals including Vienna. Security checks have been intensified and suspicious objects are being treated with increased precautions in the centre of the city.
Despite the heavily armed security personnel and alleged threat of attacks, hundreds of thousands of people are expected to attend the festivities.
