Парагвай, Asuncion

Seven people had themselves crucified in Asuncion, Thursday, in a protest over a salary dispute with the Itaipu hydroelectric company as Pope Francis journeys to Paraguay.

The protesters, workers and former workers of the hydroelectric company, organised their protest over alleged unequal salaries compared to Brazilian workers. They claim Itaipu owes them, among others, 22 million guaranies (€35,170, $38,786) in benefits and one percent of salary for each worked year.

The seven protesters hope Pope Francis will help them in their fight.
