
Belgium: Schauble plays down Syriza-led Greek referendum
German Minister of Finance Wolfgang Schauble played down the referendum initiated by Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras as he addressed an audience in Brussels on Saturday, emphasing that any decision to prolongue the June 30 deadline on Greek debt will require a European-wide, "unified basis."
The referendum is scheduled for July 5 and will go ahead providing the Hellenic Parliament ratifies the vote. The proposal requires 151 votes to pass. The the Syriza-led coalition holds 162 seats, in parliament.
