Several police officers were injured during protests that erupted in Baltimore, Monday, after thousands paid their final respects to Freddie Gray at the man's funeral. The death of the African-American 25-year-old whilst in police custody sparked protests both in Baltimore and across the United States. During the demonstration, police were seen detaining a number of protesters, including a journalist.

Twenty-five-year-old Gray died from injuries he sustained whilst in police custody. Gray's family say he suffered a severe spinal injury, that his voice box was crushed and his neck was snapped before he slipped into a coma and died.

After his death protesters gathered in Baltimore, demanding the punishment of the officers involved in the arrest of Gray. Currently, police officers Lt. Brian Rice, Sgt. Alicia White, Officer Caesar Goodson, Officer William Porter, Officer Garrett Miller and Officer Edward Nero have been identified as allegedly being involved in Gray's arrest. Whilst an initial autopsy has been completed, the medical examiner's office is waiting on toxicology results which could take up to 45 days.
