USA: Trump supporters gather near Mar-a-Lago amid possible indictment
Supporters of former US President Donald Trump gathered outside his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on Tuesday, after he called for protests against his possible imminent indictment.
Footage features activists waving flags reading 'Trump the plan' and 'Trump won'. Protesters could also be seen standing along the roads holding placards reading 'Abortion = killing your baby and grandbabies, think' as well as 'I stand with Pres, Donald J Trump'.
"I’m here today to support President Trump during this ridiculous witch hunt, the US justice system is broken, it’s been weaponised against the American people and President Trump. For 7 years they’ve been trying to bring down Donald Trump, they’ve spent millions upon millions of US tax dollars," Coltin McCormick, a protester, said.
Trump announced that he expected to be arrested on Tuesday, writing on his Truth Social account on Saturday and calling on followers to 'protest, take our nation back!'
Prosecutors in New York are considering charges over an alleged hush money payment of $130,000 made to adult film star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 campaign.
Trump has always strongly denied an affair with her, while his legal team has accused her of extortion.
