
Russian, Chinese and Iranian naval vessels practice manoeuvring at sea in joint exercise
On Friday, the Russian Defense Ministry released footage of the 'Marine Security Belt - 2023' trilateral naval drills in the Arabian Sea between Russian, Chinese, and Iranian naval forces.
The video shows the Russian frigate 'Admiral Flota Sovetskogo Soyuza Gorshkov' taking part in the drills, as well as the military attending the opening ceremony of Iran's International Maritime Security Cooperation Centre in Chabahar.
According to the DefMin, the Russian side is represented by a Northern Fleet detachment comprised of the frigate Admiral Gorshkov and the medium sea tanker Kama.
"The Northern Fleet crews will practice joint actions with the People's Liberation Army Navy's destroyer Nanjing, frigates Sakhand and Jamaran, corvette Bayandor, and other ships and vessels of the naval forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran," the department stated.
The DefMin also stated that 'during the first phase of the drills, the crews of three countries will conduct practical actions at sea, briefings, and tactical training'.
The trilateral maritime stage of the drills 'Marine Security Belt - 2023' will take place in the waters of the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea from March 15 to 19.
