Beijing authorities announced the relaxation of some coronavirus restrictions, including lifting the negative test requirement to enter many public spaces on Wednesday.
Footage shows patrons enjoying meals in restaurants and residents entering supermarkets without providing a certificate of a negative nucleic acid test.
"A few days ago, in-restaurant dining was closed, so we had to bring our own food to work. The dine-in has just resumed today, so I thought I'd come downstairs to finish my meal," Li said.
Beijing local Zhang noted that people "need to take time to adapt to it" adding “a while ago, we did nucleic acid every day, which was very nervous. Now I feel a little more relaxed", she said.
"It’s not good to have too strict restrictions," another capital resident, Yin, shared.
However, there still appeared to be lines at the testing facilities.
"If you check the [negative test] result, you need to leave some testing sites for us [opened], especially [like it was two days ago]. Now, there are more testing sites, but the queue is really long. You will need to wait for more than one hour," said Wang.
On December 6, Beijing reported 1170 newly confirmed local cases and 2804 asymptomatic infections. China reported 25,115 new local COVID cases, of which 4,351 were symptomatic and 20,764 were asymptomatic, down from a total of 27,847 a day earlier.
