Get your bellies ready! Palestinians cook world's biggest Mujadara

Palestinian chefs cooked the largest Mujadara dish ever, weighing about one and a half tones, that went into the Guinness Book of Records, on Wednesday, in Jericho.

Dozens of cooks were seen preparing the traditional Palestinian dish on a huge baking pan, at the end of the activities of the first international festival 'The Land of Canaan', organised by the Palestinian Association for Culinary Arts.

"Today, the main thing we have is the Mujadara dish, which will enter the Guinness Book of Records after preparing, photographing and writing all the weights used for this dish," said Khalil Qassem, the head chef coordinating the attempt.

The dish weighs over one tone and has a length of 6 metres.

"The weight of the dish is about 1 ton and 600 kg, the mujadara mainly contains bulgur and lentils, the amount of bulgur is 750 kg and the amount of lentils is 450 kg, the amount of water is 1 ton and 800 liters, the amount of onions is 250 kg and the amount of oil is 75 liters, the amount of olive oil is 30 liters, the amount of spices is 30 kilo and the amount of salt 30 kilos," said Shukri Matalqa a participant.
