
Ice rink opens in Moscow's Red Square spreading holiday cheer
The GUM ice rink, called after the famous department store located next to it, opened in Red Square in Moscow, on Saturday. The rink is expected to be open until the end of February.
During the opening ceremony, people could watch mesmerising performances including parts of ice shows "Ruslan and Ludmila" and "Sleeping beauty. The legend of two kingdoms." Some prominent figure skaters, such as Olympic champions Tatiana Navka and Alina Zagitova also performed on the rink.
Visitors were also able to take a free skating lesson after the opening ceremony.
One of the visitors was Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Peskov, who came to support his wife, Tatiana Navka, with their daughter.
The ice rink will be accessible daily until February 28, 2021. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be seven sessions per day, from 10:00 to 23:00. The tickets are only available online.
