State of Palestine: Thousands mark anniversary of Arafat’s death in Gaza
Thousands of people gathered in Gaza City on Tuesday to commemorate the 14th anniversary of the passing of Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) leader Yasser Arafat.
The rally was organised by the Fatah party and saw people holding pictures of Arafat and waving Fatah and Palestinian flags.
Arafat died in Paris on November 11, 2004. The Palestinian leader and founder of Fatah movement was under siege by Israel's military in his Ramallah headquarters. Palestinians have accused Israel of poisoning Arafat after a team of Swiss forensic experts found traces of the highly poisonous polonium radioactive material on his body.
