Rwanda: FIFA delays Club World Cup revamp
Plans to launch a new Club World Cup and Global Nations League were delayed after European opposition, FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced in Kigali on Wednesday.
A new task force will be set up to examine the plans. It will present its findings at a FIFA council meeting in Miami in March.
UEFA delegates had threatened to walk out of today's meeting if the president had pushed for a vote.
Infantino also said doubling prize money for women's World Cup team to $30 million (€26.2m) was progress. The total package will be $440 million (€385m) for men's teams at 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
