France: MEPs vote through Brexit negotiation plan
Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) voted in favour of a motion setting out the EU's position on Brexit negotiations which includes what German MEP Manfred Weber called "red lines," in Strasbourg on Wednesday.
The vote on the resolution, done by rollcall, was announced by President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani, and adopted with 516 in favour.
The guidelines in the resolution include protections of rights of EU citizens, as well as an insistence that the UK will have to pay a withdrawal fund. The 27 EU member states will officially approve the guidelines at a summit on April 29.
