Syria: Russian military police arrives to Syria to protect humanitarian personnel in Aleppo

A battalion of military police of the Russian Ministry of Defence arrived to the Hmeymim air base in Latakia on Friday. The troops will then be sent to Aleppo where they will fulfill the tasks within the Russian Centre for Reconciliation of opposing sides in Syria.

Among the tasks are providing security to personnel in the centre as well as the specialists of the International anti-mine centre, mobile hospitals and humanitarian convoys.

The Russian Centre for reconciliation of opposing sides was created in February 2016 to control the ceasefire statement.

Since the operation to free Aleppo began, the officers of the Russian Centre for Reconciliation of opposing sides have evacuated around 110,000 civilians including more than 44,000 children.
