
North Korea: Nation marks fifth anniversary of Kim Jong-il's death
North Korea marked the fifth anniversary of the death of its former leader, Kim Jong-il, in the nation’s capital of Pyongyang on Saturday.
Footage from Korean Central Television, North Korea’s state-run television channel, showed mourners laying flowers at the statues of Kim Jong-il and the founder of the state Kim il-Sung.
Current leader and son of Kim Jong-il, Kim-Jong-Un, reportedly visited the mausoleum, which contains the embalmed bodies of the country’s former leaders. Kim Jong-il died on December 17 2011 following a heart attack.
