
Serbia: Serbia will never take the side of those who despise Russia - Nikolic
Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic underlined the ties between Russia and Serbia, speaking at a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in Belgrade on Monday. Nikolic said, "Serbia will never take the side of those who despise Russia."
Russia's top diplomat praised the "centuries-old tradition of relations between Serbia and our people are a guarantee that we will continue doing everything necessary for the development of our countries, to make people’s lives better". He said the ties "are based on national interests" and "everything we do is mutually beneficial and is not subject to any ideological interpretation."
Earlier in the day, Lavrov met with the Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic to discuss economic ties and humanitarian cooperation. Lavrov arrived in Belgrade for a series of meetings with the Serb leadership and to take part in the session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization.
