USA: 'I am a victim' - Trump denies further sexual assault accusations
The Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said he was a "victim of one of the great political smear campaigns" while addressing a rally in Charlotte, North Carolina on Friday.
Referring to a slew of recently surfaced allegations of sexual assault, Trump said "the media and the Clinton campaign have brought forth false allegations less than a month before the most important election in modern times. These allegations are 100% false, as everybody - I think you know, I think you get it. They're made up, they never happened."
He went on to speculate that "it's not hard to find a small handful of people willing to make false smears for personal fame, who knows maybe for financial reasons, political purposes, or for the simple reason they want to stop our movement, they want to stop our campaign."
In the middle of his speech, the Republican nominee suddenly told the crowd his teleprompter hadn't been working for the past twenty minutes. After trying to readjust the prompter, it fell down, and Trump concluded "you know what, I like it better without the teleprompter."
Two further women came out in public on Friday to accuse Trump of sexual assault, including Summer Zervos, a former contest on The Apprentice, and Kristin Anderson, a former model. Trump's campaign team and the Republican candidate have vehemently denied the accusations. Despite the latest allegations, RealClearPolitics polling average from Friday put Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton as a 6.7 point lead over her rival.
