Germany: WikiLeaks to publish 'significant' US election docs from Nov. 8 - Assange

WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange has confirmed the upcoming publication of the US elections-related documents in a skype press conference marking WikiLeaks' 10 year anniversary at Volksbuhne Theatre in Berlin, Tuesday.

Assange confirmed that WikiLeaks was going to publish the US-election related documents that he had previously dubbed as "October surprise," which some claim could affect Hillary Clinton's chances of becoming the next US president. According to Assange, WikiLeaks will publish "every week for the next ten weeks" and that "all the US election-related documents [are] to come out before November 8."

While Assange refuted rumours that the upcoming leaks would not be a personal attack on Clinton, he said that the WikiLeaks' publication "is significant in relation to the upcoming publication. Yes, we think they're significant."

Julian Assange's Lawyer Melinda Taylor also spoke about the Democratic National Committee's (DNC) leaks previously published by WikiLeaks, saying "the inability to view Julian or WikiLeaks with any level of impartiality has just been emphasised by the recent smear campaign caused by the DNC leaks. Once again the spectre of reds under the beds has been resurrected just because WikiLeaks dared to publish information. For example, about Hillary Clinton's policy failings and her short-sighted and flawed approach to international interventions. For example, in Libya. He published this; therefore, he must be anti-American. He must be an enemy of state."

Taylor also noted "Julian has even been placed on the NSA man hunting list, along with other members of terrorist organisations. There was a report that came out recently that Hillary Clinton in a meeting proposed to 'just drone the guy'".

Earlier this year, WikiLeaks released some 20,000 emails from the DNC that revealed that the chair of the DNC Debbie Wasserman Schultz had attempted to sabotage Bernie Sanders' candidacy. Schultz subsequently resigned only to be hired as a part of Clinton's campaign for the presidency.

Assange has lived in the Ecuadorian embassy in London since 2012, after taking refuge in order to avoid extradition to Sweden on sexual assault charges which he denies.
