
Russia: Pilot successfully conducts the maiden flight of the Yak-152 aircraft
The maiden flight of the Yak-152 aircraft was successfully executed by test pilot Vasili Sevastyanov in Irkutsk on Thursday.
The Yak-152 is a new-generation primary trainer aircraft being developed by Yakovlev Design Bureau, part of the Irkut Corporation. The aircraft is being developed for the Russian Ministry of Defence, paramilitary sport organisation Volunteer Society for Cooperation with the Army, Aviation, and Fleet (DOSAAF) among other Russian organisations.
The plane will provide the platform for pilot training by day and night, it is also designed for training pilots in flying techniques, the basics of navigation, simple, complex, and aerobatic piloting, as well as group piloting.
The serial production of the new training aircraft will be carried out at the Irkutsk Aviation Facility. The design and pre-production of the Yak-152 is based on the latest Russian developments and design solutions in the field of small aircraft.
