China: Xi Jinping says G20 to focus on 'long-term governance' in closing speech
Chinese President Xi Jinping held a press conference on Monday to conclude the 11th G20 summit in Hangzhou. He said an “extensive consensus” had been reached by the gathered countries on many issues that were discussed.
The president said “investment guidelines” had been agreed upon with the aim of transforming the summit from exercising “short term crisis management to long-term governance.” He also said members had agreed to “push forward the IMF reform of quota and voting shares” in addition to “increasing the representation and voice of emerging market countries.”
The G20 summit, held between September 4 and 5, saw governments and representatives from 20 major economic powers meet to discuss strategies for fiscal policy and international financial stability.
