Thousands of protesters flooded the streets on London on Friday, to protest against police brutality under the Black Lives Matter slogan following the deadly shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile.

Protesters met at Windrush Square in Brixton after organisers London Black Revs invited people to "Stand in Solidarity with our brothers and sisters murdered by the Hands of Police Brutality."

The demonstrators blocked traffic at the capital's Oxford Circus high street, before marching to the BBC headquarters and the American embassy.

In the early hours of Wednesday, African-American Alton Sterling was fatally shot by police in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Less than 48 hours later, another black man, Philando Castile, was killed by police in Falcon Heights, Minnesota during a traffic stop. The killing is the 505th fatal incident involving police officers in the US in 2016.
