France: Wales manager Coleman talks Bale v Ronaldo ahead of semi-final
Chris Coleman, coach of the Wales national team, held a press conference on the Stade de Lyon, Tuesday, ahead of their Euro 2016 match against Portugal.
Coleman said that "we're going to this game as the underdogs,” going on to refer to the “seven semi-finals in big tournaments" that Portugal had been in, before noting "this is our first one.”
The Welshmen continued, talking about Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo, comparing him to Welsh star and club team-mate Gareth Bale. “You remember great pieces of play from great individuals, and they've got one of them, and we've got one, so I think it will be interesting tomorrow,” Coleman said in reference to the two stars.
On their way to the semi-finals, Wales managed to beat Belgium 3-1 in their quarter-final clash. Despite being rank outsiders to win the tournament, Wales have surprised fans and pundits alike by making it this far. They are now only two victories away from claiming Euro glory.
Wales is set to face Portugal at 9:00 pm local time (7:00 pm GMT) on Wednesday.
