Russia: FM's Zakharova calls for closure of Syria-Turkey border
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova called for the closure of the Syrian-Turkish border in order to stop the infiltration of arms and militants into Syria, during a press briefing in Moscow on Thursday.
"There is still constant tension because of the continued infiltration of militants from Turkey, and the smuggling of weapons and arms to terrorist groups active in Syria," she said. "To ensure stabilisation in Syria, it is important to provide for the secure closure of the Syrian-Turkish border," she added.
Zakharova also reported on the latest situation in Syria, stating that violence had not died down despite the period in question coinciding with Ramadan.
