Germany: Merkel rejects Netanyahu's Holocaust claims during joint presser
German Chancellor Angela Merkel claimed National Socialism to be the sole reason of the Holocaust during WWII during a joint press conference with Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu in Berlin on Wednesday, one day after he accused the Mufti of Jerusalem of inspiring the Holocaust.
Merkel also outlined that despite "Israel has the obligation to protect its own citizens and concerning security measures, the dictate of proportionality should indeed play a role" presumably alluding the construction of a new wall in Jerusalem. Netanyahu assured that "it is not a wall. This is seven meters of a physical obstacle" and that since "rocks kill, Molotov cocktails kill and it makes sense to build a specific obstacle to prevent the hurling of such objects."
Merkel and Netanyahu have met on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of German-Israeli diplomatic relations.
