Ukraine: We will initiate a referendum against government, says Right Sector leader
Thousands of members and supporters of the Ukrainian far-right Right Sector movement rallied on Maidan square in Kiev, Tuesday, to demand that the country's authorities hold a referendum to dissolve the current Ukrainian government and parliament, cancel the Minsk agreements, blockade the Donbass region and legalise volunteer battalions.
The leader of the group Dmytro Yarosh said that the Ukrainian power structures are not likely to change, however voiced his belief that "all of them should be thrown into the rubbish can of political history." During his speech, Yarosh also demanded a total embargo of militia-controlled areas in eastern Ukraine and recognition of the conflict as a war, instead of naming it an 'Anti-Terrorist Operation' (ATO).
The Right Sector is a far-right nationalist political party that emerged as a paramilitary coalition of different right-wing groups during the Euromaidan protests in 2013/2014.
