
Russia: Crimean police seize $3.5 million worth of marijuana
About 500 marijuana plants were found by the Crimean police in a cannabis farm in the Kirov district of Crimea, authorities reported on Friday.
According to the Russian Ministry of Interior Elena Alekseeva, the plantation covered 2,000 square metres (21,500 square foot) and was hidden on an artificial island.
Two more cannabis plantations, made up of 1,100 marijuana plants, were discovered by officers a day later. According to preliminary estimations, the total amount of cannabis seized would be worth around $3.5 million (€3.1 million) on the black market. Reports indicate that all the plants have been destroyed.
