USA: Two arrested after scuffles break out at Freddie Gray protest in Baltimore

Two people were arrested after scuffles broke out between police and activists at a protest over the death of Freddie Gray in Baltimore, Thursday. Twenty-seven-year-old Gray died on Sunday from severe injuries he sustained whilst in police custody. According to Gray's family he suffered a severe spinal injury, his voice box was crushed and his neck was snapped before he slipped into a coma and died.

Hundreds of protesters gathered at Baltimore City Hall before proceeding through the streets to the police station. Tensions rose during the march, with minor scuffles breaking out between police and protesters and a number of missiles being thrown.

According to the Baltimore Police Department, the two arrests made were for disorderly conduct and destruction of property. No other arrests were made and the protest remained peaceful for the most part.
