The Rada-appointed President of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchinov and Rada-appointed Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk went to the Park of Eternal Glory in Kiev Friday to lay flowers at the eternal flame.
The ceremony commemorates those who fought in the World War II. It was attended by veterans of the war, the former Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko, Leonid Kravchuk and Leonid Kuchma. Every year on the May 9 countries from the former Eastern Bloc hold a victory day to mark the anniversary of Nazi Germany's surrender in the war.
