USA: BMW takes covers off practical X4 hatchback
BMW unveiled the new member of its X family of sports utility coupes, the BMW X4, at the New York International Auto Show on Wednesday.
The X4 will be available with a choice of engines, from the xDrive20d, with a 190-horsepower B47 engine, to the more powerful xDrive28i and xDrive35i. The xDrive28i comes with a two-litre four-cylinder engine, direct injection and turbocharging, and is capable of pushing 240 horses. The xDrive35i features a three-litre six-cylinder engine, direct injection and turbocharging, and delivers 306 horsepower. Both models come with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Another of X4's high-tech features are its LED lights.
Only the X4 xDrive28i and the X4 xDrive35i will be available in the US, for $45,625 (€33,022) and $48,925 (€35,411), respectively. In Europe, xDrive28i will be priced at a minimum of €51,700 ($71,430), and xDrive35i at €58,000 ($80,131).
