Russia: AFU 'unsuccessfully attempted to attack' Russia's Ivan Khurs warship with unmanned boats - Konashenkov

Russian Defence Ministry spokesperson Igor Konashenkov claimed that Ukrainian Armed Forces had 'unsuccessfully attempted to attack' the Black Sea Fleet's Ivan Khurs warship using three unmanned speedboats, during his briefing in Moscow on Wednesday.

"All the enemy's boats have been neutralised by standard weapons of the Russian warship 140 km north-east of the Bosphorus Strait," he stated.

He also added that the ship continues to carry out tasks to ensure the safety of the operation of the Turkish Stream and Blue Stream gas pipelines.

At the time of publication, the Ukrainian side had not responded to the reports of the incident.

Moscow launched a military offensive in Ukraine in late February 2022 after recognising the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR), claiming that Kiev had failed to guarantee their special status under the 2014 Minsk Agreements, and urging Ukraine to declare itself officially neutral and give assurances that it would never join NATO.

Kiev denounced the Russian action as an invasion. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky imposed martial law throughout the country, announcing a general mobilisation, while the EU and the US imposed several rounds of sanctions on Moscow.

Additional footage was used during the video briefing by Igor Konashenkov, published by the Ministry of Defence.
