China: 'This year we will bring mutual trade to 200 billion dollars' - Mishustin at Russia-China business forum
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin claimed that trade turnover between Moscow and Beijing would reach 200 billion dollars in 2023, during a plenary session of the Russia-China business forum in Shanghai on Tuesday.
"Russia cherishes its long history of relations with China. For two years in a row, the volume of mutual trade increased by about a third. In 2022, a new record was set - about 190 billion dollars," Mishustin added.
The prime minister singled out shipbuilding and the machine tool industry, production of civilian unmanned aerial systems, the timber industry, the expansion of air communication and the potential of the Northern Sea Route as among the priority areas of co-operation between Russia and China.
In addition, Mishustin noted that a deepening Russian-Chinese partnership and increasing co-operation would have a positive impact on strengthening the economies of the two countries.
Mishustin arrived in Shanghai on Monday night. In addition to participating in the Russian-Chinese business forum, he will visit the SINOPEC (China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation) Shanghai Research Institute of Petrochemical Technology and meet with Russian business representatives.
On Wednesday, the PM is expected to travel to Beijing and hold talks with Xi Jinping and the Head of the State Council of China, Li Qiang.
