
Bangladesh: Thousands of BNP supporters rally in Dhaka calling on govt to resign
Thousands of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) supporters took to the streets of Dhaka on Friday to demand the resignation of the government led by Sheikh Hasina Wazed of the Awami League (AL).
The footage features protesters marching and chanting while holding banners and placards reading 'No more elections under Hasina', 'Vote is my right, why to fight?', 'We demand free and fair elections, 'Take back Bangladesh', among others.
According to local reports, protesters also demanded the immediate release of BNP party leaders and workers arrested in absentee cases. They also claimed against the rising price of living in the country and for a new election under a neutral caretaker government.
The main opposition party of the country, BNP, along with other political groups, has been agitating for the government's resignation across the country for the last few months.
