Moscow Zoo celebrates International Panda Day with tasty treats
Moscow Zoo celebrated 'International Panda Day' on Thursday by giving treats to their beloved furry friends.
Pandas Dingding and Zhuyi received a four-tiered ice cake decorated with fruit, a stack of bamboo stems and artificial flowers with tasty surprises.
The footage shows pandas eagerly chomping down their treats before going to sleep.
Svetlana Akulova, CEO of Moscow Zoo, said via Telegram that zoo patrons made a big apple-shaped bag stuffed with carrots, sweet potatoes and apples for Zhuyi. Dingding also received a paper lotus flower with bananas.
The two pandas arrived at the zoo following Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Russia in 2019. President Xi leased the bears to Moscow for 15 years as part of what is known as 'Panda diplomacy'.
International Panda Day is traditionally celebrated around the world on March 16. The aim is to raise awareness of the plight of the endangered animals that are at risk of extinction.
