
At Sea: China, Russia, Iran hold joint naval drills in Gulf of Oman
China, Russia and Iran held joint naval drills in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday.
Vessels, including a Russian 454 frigate, an Iranian P235 Sina-class fast attack craft and a Chinese destroyer were seen manoeuvring in the area, which lies at the mouth of the strategic Persian Gulf.
The drills are titled ‘Marine Security Belt’ and are aimed at deepening cooperation between the Naval forces of the participating countries. The three nations conducted similar drills last year and in 2019.
The four-day drills began on Wednesday and will continue until Sunday.
