Polish authorities said on Thursday that national security service detained nine members of a Russian spy network, claiming that they were preparing acts of sabotage in Poland. "Evidence indicates that this group monitored railway routes," indicated Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminski in a press conference held in Warsaw.

"Its tasks included i.a. recognising, monitoring and documenting transports with weapons carried out for Ukraine; the suspects were also preparing for sabotage actions to paralyse the supply of equipment, weapons and aid to Ukraine," Kaminski added.

For his part, Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak suggested that the group came from neighbouring Belarus, a Russian ally.

As a hub for deliveries of weapons to Ukraine, Poland claims that has been targeted by Russian-led activities to destabilise the country.

Moscow alleges that the US provides intelligence and targeting information to the Ukrainian government, along with weapons, ammunition and money.
