    Cherry blossoms appeared on the iconic Yoshino cherry trees at National Mall park in Washington, DC on Friday, three weeks before the start of spring.

    Residents and tourists enjoyed the scenery, while promenading through the park near the Washington Monument.

    Typically, cherry blossoms bloom during the last week of March and the first week of April. However, according to local media, the flowering time varied from year to year depending on the weather. The earliest peak bloom was recorded on March 15 in 1990.
