New Yorkers commented on 1997 acclaimed film Titanic on its 25th anniversary celebration on Friday, as theaters screen a remastered version for Valentine's Day.

As part of the celebrations, a restoration club formed by relatives of Titanic survivors vowed to restore a memorial lighthouse in South Street Seaport, New York City.

"I loved it," commented a New Yorker named Emily. "My roommate and I, it's like a tradition, every time we get together we watch that movie and we cry. Sometimes we skip the other parts to get to the sad part and bond", she said.

"As I grew up, I appreciated more the love story and the music. The storytelling is so well net together, is moving, powerful, and tragic as well. Jack dies in the end. I still think he could have fit on that wood slab", said Tuhin, another resident.

Fletcher, another citizen, added: "t came out 25 years ago, and I changed a lot since then, it may speak to me in a different way".

"True love doesn't look at your age, status, whether you're rich or poor. If you fall in love, you can fall in love with anybody," noted Nadia, another fan of the film.

The Oscar-winning film, based on the sinking of the famous British passenger ship in 1912, celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. The film will return to theaters in 3D for a brief period of time from 10 February.
